What does the P.A.W.S program at Adelphia recognize?
Positive Actions Will Shine (P.A.W.S) is Adelphia's school wide incentive program that helps in the developmental awareness of bullying and character education. Through our monthly challenges, hand-selected mentor texts, and significant classroom activities, students are presented with an assortment of scenarios and topics to work on and implement throughout the school day. These positive actions are shining their way throughout the school inspiring students to be role-models and leaders.
How does a student earn paw prints?
As you enter the school you may notice a multitude of colored paw prints that illuminate the hallway outside the media center. Each paw print recognizes each individual student that has successfully completed our PAW challenge throughout the marking period. Adelphia's educational team of administrators, teachers, and support staff recognize those students who met the monthly challenge, demonstrated a positive action, or have proven to master the selected scenario on a daily basis. These students are presented with a PAW, which is displayed. At the conclusion of every marking period, the PAW prints are tallied and recorded for our very special PAW assembly.
What is the P.A.W.S Assembly at Adelphia?
This very special event happens at the end of every marking period. Students who have mastered the monthly challenges and have demonstrated positive and leadership abilities are recognized at the assembly. These students receive a keepsake necklace complete with the number of PAW charms they earned. Lastly the student that earned the most P.A.W.S from each grade level is recognized and selected by Ms. Keelen and Mrs. Remo for an office breakfast at Adelphia School. In addition, we also select an adult in our community to be recognized for their positive actions. It is a great opportunity for all and a positive way to reward positive behaviors!
